Post-Delivery Checklist

What to do after receiving your vehicle — next steps for plates, registration, and getting on the road

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Ekho support at [email protected] if you have questions not answered below.

Congratulations on receiving your vehicle! Here is what to expect and what may still be needed from you after delivery.

What to Expect After Delivery

I just received my vehicle. What happens next?

After delivery, the following may happen depending on your order:

  1. Temporary tag — Ekho will mail you a physical temporary registration tag (if not already sent).

  2. VIN inspection — If your state requires a VIN inspection, you will need to complete this after taking delivery of the vehicle.

  3. Titling and registration processing — Ekho submits your paperwork to the DMV. This typically takes 4–6 weeks, after which your permanent plates and registration will be mailed to you.

Check your buyer portal and email for any outstanding action items.

When can I start riding/driving my vehicle?

For road-legal vehicles, you can begin riding once you have:

  • Your temporary registration tag displayed on the vehicle

  • Active insurance coverage

  • Any required state license or endorsement (e.g., motorcycle endorsement)

You do not need to wait for your permanent plates to begin riding.

Inspecting Your Vehicle

What should I check when my vehicle is delivered?

When you receive your vehicle, we recommend:

  • Inspecting for any visible shipping damage (scratches, dents, broken parts)

  • Verifying all accessories and components are included (charger, keys, manuals, etc.)

  • Checking that the VIN on the vehicle matches the VIN on your paperwork

  • Taking photos of the vehicle upon delivery for your records

My vehicle arrived with damage or missing parts. Who do I contact?

For issues related to the physical vehicle — including shipping damage, missing parts (charger, accessories), defects, or assembly concerns — please contact the manufacturer directly, as they handle all product and delivery issues. Ekho handles checkout, financing, and titling, but does not manage the physical vehicle or its delivery logistics.

Does my vehicle come assembled?

Assembly varies by manufacturer and delivery method. Some vehicles are delivered fully assembled, while others may require minor assembly (such as attaching mirrors, handlebars, or charging the battery). Please contact the manufacturer for specific assembly details for your vehicle.

Outstanding Action Items

How do I know if I have outstanding steps to complete?

Log into your buyer portal to check for any incomplete sections. You will also receive email reminders from Ekho for any outstanding action items, such as completing a VIN inspection, scheduling a remote signing session, or returning signed documents.

I already completed everything but keep getting reminder emails. What should I do?

If your buyer portal shows all steps as complete, you can disregard reminder emails — they may be automated follow-ups. If you want to confirm, contact Ekho support and we can verify your account status.
